Cash Register Express (CRE) has been around for a very long time, do you know why? because it works and it has features all the flashy cloud based systems don't. We have been waiting for a new cloud based system that can do everything CRE can do but they don't yet exist. Yes CRE looks a little dated but that is because it is. It was feature rich and powerful years ago and not much has changed.

So what does CRE do better or different than the flashy cloud based systems on the market today. Take a look at our list below

  • Handles EBT correctly, sorts non EBT items EBT eligible items in the same transaction. Allows you to split tender and removes sales taxes from EBT eligible items.   
  • Case/Each inventory management. Yes you buy in the case but sell it by the each. CRE handles that inventory correctly unlike so many systems on the market today.
  • Price Embedded Bar Codes work great in CRE. If you have a meat counter or deli, you can weigh your items with a label printing scale and the POS will read that price. 
  • NOT CLOUD based. Yes CRE is a Windows system. You data stays in your store on your PC! If the cloud fails who cares your CRE system wont.
  • You can buy it outright. Yep, say good bye to monthly subscriptions the other systems charge. With CRE you can buy it out right. This will save you thousands of dollars over the life of a system.
  • Credit Card Processor Agnostic, which is just a fancy way of saying you can process or not process with any one you want. All the cloud based systems on the market trap you into a single processor. Hmmn I wonder if they will ever raise your rates!

  What is this software called? Is it pcAmerica or Cash Register Express?  Yes, kind of a silly thing to blog about, however it is a real issue sometimes. We still have people contact us looking for pcAmerica and we say OH, sure you need Cash Register Express (CRE). They always reply no, we need pcAmerica! Enhancements and updates were completed is the accounting export, Barcode Express, Inventory Maintenance , Gift Cards, and Reporting. If you have a shared support contract your upgrades should be included in your plan (Shared Support is support with both your dealer and CRE direct support).
